Meet Weldon Swann

Weldon Swann (West Collin County Area Director)

After 35 years of teaching and coaching in public education, the Lord next called me to serve Him through the ministry of FCA in the western part of Collin County. I have enjoyed that privilege since 2016.  Throughout my coaching career, I saw countless lives of athletes and coaches impacted for Christ through FCA, one of which was mine.  I count it a tremendous blessing and responsibility to serve Him through the ministry that has meant so much to me personally.  My wife, Lisa, and I have many precious “FCA memories” and our children, Elizabeth, Madilyn, Jake, and Hayden grew up around the ministry and attended FCA camps during their childhood.  My heart’s desire now is to see more coaches and athletes become disciples who make disciples and watch God use their influence to transform the world.

My ministry efforts are possible because of the faithful prayer and financial support of donors. I ask you to prayerfully consider joining my support team. Know that your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated. Together we can continue to reach both athletes and coaches through FCA and advance His Kingdom until He comes.

Meet Grace Lyons-Turk

Grace Lyons-Turk (West Collin County Area Rep.)

I have been involved in FCA since the 8th grade where I was mentored by an FCA staff member who helped lead me into a relationship with Jesus. Since then, I have been heavily involved in my high school and college FCA programs and this led me to join FCA staff during my last year in college. After finishing my collegiate softball career at the university of Oklahoma in 2023, my husband and I moved to Frisco, TX where I joined the W. Collin County FCA team. I serve as an area representative in this region and I love the endless opportunities of meeting with female coaches and athletes. At OU, I was given the blessing of a platform to share the Good News of Jesus to teammates and fans, and I quickly realized the Lord gave me this passion and boldness to continue into ministry when I was finished. I love encouraging others and speaking about how loving and powerful our Lord and Savior is. My hope is to see God transform the sports world and for Him to receive endless glory through athletes’ talents and competitiveness. Let’s go to BATL! (Boast About The Lord)

Meet The West Collin County Board

Now retired, John Washburn lives in Anna, TX with his wife Frankie. Serving his country as a Green Beret Medic helped launch his working career in the field of Respiratory Therapy and healthcare sales.  He started several companies providing Respiratory Therapy services to hospitals in the rural setting.  Eventually, John ended up working in the pharmaceutical industry and rose to the position of National Sales Manager for a major pharmaceutical company. However, he ended his working career doing what he always wanted to do: working in Hospice for the largest non-profit Hospice provider in the State of Texas!

Since his retirement, John has served on several Board of Directors for non-profit organizations including Community Hospice of Texas and Retired Senior Volunteer Programs of Denton.  When a friend recommended he look into serving with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, John couldn’t have been more pleased. I heard him say, “The sooner a child meets Jesus, the sooner he is on the right road in life.”    Serving on the Board of FCA, John looks forward to the opportunity to help many young people find Jesus…. that right road in life.
